Who can benefit from counseling?

Counseling is both for the person who is feeling immense pain and stress, and for the person who is simply seeking a context that will keep them accountable, motivated, and encouraged as they work towards their academic, career, health, and/or personal goals. Because counseling is about soul care, every person can benefit from the process.

How long does counseling last?

Recognizing the pace which one is able to verbalize and reflect on their experience varies from person to person, I collaborate with my clients and design a treatment plan which best serves his or her needs. I hold your confidence in the highest regard, and I am committed to keeping our time a safe place for you to speak freely whatever is on your heart and mind. These include reasonable suspicion that the client is in danger of harming him/herself or someone else; I become aware of or suspect abuse, neglect, or exploitation to a child, an elder, or an adult with a disability; or if I am ordered by a court or other legal proceedings/statutes which require disclosure as specified under the law.

What does counseling look like?

Counseling is an opportunity to care for your soul and enables you to explore your worries, wishes, personal relationships or life goals. I am here to help you better understand your heart and your world so you can identify where you are stuck relationally, vocationally, spiritually, and/or emotionally. I believe that it is in relationships that we are often hurt, and it is in healthy relationships that we are renewed. Counseling is a place where you can experience a healthy relationship with your counselor that affords you the space to examine those private and sacred places within your life and where we begin to create the conditions for change. What does Christian counseling look like?

Yielding to the Holy Spirit, Christian counseling utilizes Biblical truths including all the teachings of Scripture, but especially those that bear on our relationship with God and one another, and the tools of the mental health profession to assist individuals in living a more meaningful, healthier, and productive life with God, oneself, and those around them.

Who should come to counseling with me?

Counseling is for your benefit to help you strengthen and grow holistically. For some, this process includes inviting valued friends or family members into the sessions as he or she moves towards the advancement of their goals.
